Soccer is an international sport played by a diverse global community. The Lawrence Adult Soccer League (“LASL”) brings together a diverse group of people who identify with diverse ethnicities, races, genders, faiths, sexualities, nationalities and abilities. We believe soccer should be a time when we come together and celebrate our love for the beautiful game with other people, no matter our differences. LASL has provided people of all backgrounds the opportunity to play soccer in Lawrence, Kansas, for over three decades. This statement is a continuation of our operating policy of inclusion and a reaffirmation of what we know is right.

The LASL board would like to affirm our view that the league is a welcoming place for everyone, and no league member should be treated otherwise. Our local soccer community has been, and will continue to be, inclusive of people of all intersections and we will continue to provide an environment for everyone in Lawrence, Kansas to be respected and protected, especially the underrepresented identities of LGBTQIA people, foreign nationals, people of color, women, and young people. The league will not tolerate any behavior that is threatening or malicious, or that violates the rights and dignity of its members in any space that is associated with our activities. Acts of racism, sexism, xenophobia, Islamophobia or other prejudiced behaviors will be handled with the utmost seriousness.

We want to affirm our commitment to provide a safe environment for people of all backgrounds to gather and play the sport we all love.
