The Lawrence Adult Soccer League (LASL) was formed in 1988 by a small group of avid players whose goal was to organize the soccer community and move from pick-up games to professional-style matches. They began playing at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, later moved to Maple Grove fields (now a cemetery), and then on to Clinton Park Outlet.
LASL has since expanded to over 650 unique players per year who compete at both recreational and competitive levels. Today, Spring and Fall outdoor 11v11 seasons are played on turf at Lawrence and Free State High Schools, while Late Fall (5v5) and Winter (7v7) indoor seasons are held at Rock Chalk Park.
LASL is a non-profit, volunteer run organization that is fully sanctioned by the Kansas Soccer Association. They strive to serve the Lawrence community by offering discounted registrations to youth coaches volunteering in any Lawrence soccer program, and by partnering with local businesses. Due to Lawrence’s cosmopolitan residential profile and the student body at KU, the league has representation of a large number of nationalities and ethnic groups. They have players and teams of all skill levels, so whether you are a novice who wants to keep in shape, a life-long player who wants a challenge, or are just new in town and want to meet people, they can find a place for you!
